FARE is the ambient, Lo-Fi solo project of Christina Smith. Currently based in Falmouth, Cornwall FARE began making music in 2016, inspired by musicians such as Grouper, Told Slant, Soccer Mommy and Keaton Henson. Her lyrics are delicate and honest, revealing the timid approach to her music making.
Accompaniment is simple, showcasing her ambient guitar loops, “wholly lo-fi and stripped back” (Feedback Zine, 2017). She is described to have an, ‘Open and effortless style’ and FARE brings out a certain vulnerability when performing her music live, immersed in emotion through her thoughtful and reflective lyrics and dreamy atmosphere. As well as her solo project, FARE is also part of other musical ventures, including the 5 piece, Milo Gore, who have some exciting plans for the year ahead. FARE released her debut EP ‘Overgrown’ in October 2017 and since then has been busy performing around the South West and at festivals including Boardmasters, Glastonbury, Wonderfields and Langaland. FARE also recently came back from supporting Ben Howard, on the first of his European Tour dates in Utrecht, NL, in late November 2018. Since then, FARE has been working on the release of her 8 track, Lo-Fi album ‘through the walls’ which is now available to download and stream on all major platforms!
